This is my travel blog. A collection of observations and babble from my prolonged time-wasting around the globe. I now consider travel to be just that – time-wasting. It’s selfish and easy, it’s exchanging the real world and responsibilities and your life’s savings in favour of a long holiday. It’s a way of justifying not having a career or financial stability because you’ve been lying on a beach or climbing up a few mountains. And I wholeheartedly encourage it.
Only after I returned home did I discover the travel blogging phenomenon and realised it may have been possible to combine the responsibility of a career with the irresponsibility of long-term travel. And then I was astounded at how boring, similar and sycophantic most of them are.
So this is a retrospective collection of ramblings I wrote down at bus stops and in hostels, on aeroplanes or in damp, dark, basement apartments. If people enjoy reading said ramblings I will continue to write them down and hopefully encourage others to stick a finger up at the real world and buy a one-way flight to a destination they’ve never been to. If there’s one thing the world needs more of it’s careless backpackers escaping responsibility. Enjoy.
‘You think of travellers as bold, but our guilty secret is that travel is one of the laziest ways on earth of passing the time.’ – Paul Theroux
